In 2025 I started collecting full and empty bottles from this Farm Distillery on the Isle of Islay. On this page my almost complete series of the annual limited edition KILCHOMAN CLUB releases, the 1st edition being released in 2012.

The special feature of the 5th edition is not a special cask maturation but its age: Anthony Wills chose two of the few remaining casks from 2006 – a 1st fill bourbon barrel and a sherry butt – and married them together. After some private cask releases and a single cask for Belgium, Kilchoman now presented its first own 10 years old bottling.*

Kilchoman founder Anthony Wills is always keen to bottle something special for the annual club release. In 2020 he selected four oloroso sherry hogsheads with unpeated Kilchoman whisky. Distilled in August 2012 from the farm’s own barley (100% Islay) of the Publican variety, the whisky was matured for 8 years in four fresh oloroso hogsheads.*

Always keen to select something special for the annual club release, Anthony Wills chose a small batch of three nearly 13-year-old oloroso sherry casks. Distilled in December 2008, the whisky was initially matured in oloroso sherry butts. In 2016, Anthony Wills was not satisfied with its evolution, so he decided to have it decanted into three refill oloroso hogsheads. Five years later, the whisky was at the peak of its flavour development according to Anthony and was bottled in November 2021.*

The release date of the bottling is a very special day for Kilchoman. On 14 December 2005, exactly 17 years ago, the first cask of Kilchoman whisky was filled.*

The whisky was initially matured for almost six years in two ex-Buffalo Trace bourbon barrels, then decanted into Blanc de Blancs casks in August and September 2022 and finished in these for more than 14 months.*

Following last year’s nine-year-old single cask bottling of an oloroso sherry butt, Anthony Wills and Robin Bignal have once again selected an oloroso sherry butt, only this time it is significantly older at 16 years and filled with whisky produced from the farm’s own barley. More specifically, it is barley of the Optic variety harvested at Rockside Farm in 2008 and processed in 2009. This year, for the first time, the bottles in the well-known Kilchoman gift box feature a specially designed label depicting a stylized mash tun.*
